Halloween is just around the corner, and we all know what that means – the season of fright has arrived. Whether you’re looking for a historically haunted tour, or just to have a spine-chilling experience at a haunted house, we’ve got you covered.
Milwaukee Ghost Tours has been gaining more and more traction throughout the city, and for good reason. The tours, put on by the extremely well prepared staff, will take you on an adventure involving the intense history of our beloved Historic Third Ward. If you didn’t already know, it used to be called “The Bloody Third”, which at one point housed one of Milwaukee’s roughest ghettos. You’ll learn more through ghost stories, tales of true crime, and supernatural folklore. Have you already experienced this walking tour of the Third Ward? No worries, since the area is so saturated with history, every tour tackles different topics. No paid actors and no silly gimmicks, just awesome and spooky history for you to take in. Tickets are $10 and are available here.
If you’re wanting to learn a bit more about the hauntings of Milwaukee, or Wisconsin in general, don’t hesitate and make your way to a one-of-a-kind presentation put on by Milwaukee Ghost’s own Allison Jornlin. She will cover everything from local history to questioning if your television is a portal to another dimension. The next presentation will take place at the Pewaukee Library on Oct. 25 at 6:30 PM. Be there and be scared.

Milwaukee’s history is muddled and can be hard to follow, luckily Hangman Tours have your quirky and frightening history lessons on lock. Once again exploring the macabre history of Milwaukee, Hangman has put together a series of great tours for your scary entertainment and education:
Shakers Ghost Tour / Ghost Tour 2.0
Shakers Cigar Bar has been voted the fifth most haunted bar in America, so it’s no surprise that these haunted tours are so popular. Walk your way through the building’s troubled and varied past as you learn about the scandal, smuggling, and violence that floats around its history. It’s no surprise that there are hauntings here – for the building has operated as a brothel, cooperage, and even a speakeasy run by Al Capone. With history running so deep, you’re guaranteed to learn something new. There are two tours available, one 60 minute ($15) and one 90 minute ($25), and both will explore the sordid history of Shakers. Best part about it? You’re able to grab a drink after to process all the crazy facts you just learned.
Cream City Cannibal
Journey through the life of sadistic and twisted serial killer Jeffry Dahmer as you embark on the same journey he took while pursuing seven of his victims. This tour is not for those looking for something lighthearted, as you will learn the gruesome details that surrounded Dahmer’s troubled “career.” The tour is 75 minutes long, takes place outdoors, and tickets are $25.
The Whoring 20’s
If you’re looking for something a bit less gruesome, perhaps take on this tour. You’ll be able to explore the crazy times that were the 1920’s in Milwaukee – where the legalization of prostitution, gambling, and opium played a big role in the city’s mass appeal. Stride along with your group on the Riverwalk and learn about the now illegal past of the early 20th century for the low price of $18.
The Milwauking Dead
While this tour isn’t led by “The Walking Dead” lead character, Rick Grimes, it does take on the history of over 150 historical deaths in Milwaukee. Covering everything from sunken ships to city hall suicides, this exploration of the city’s darker side will leave you with a feeling of haunting loss. You can purchase tickets for the small fee of $18.
