With summer here, Milwaukee has become an exuberant display of food, music, and fun. So much so, in fact, that we can almost drown in the excess.
In the sea of all the great things you have to choose from in Milwaukee, you’re not going to want to overlook the renewed and thriving Menomonee Valley. Below are some events taking place in the valley that you are going to want to check out.
Ever wanted to meet our Mayor? Possibly wander through the lush green scenery while talking to some really cool people? Well tomorrow there will be a walk with the Mayor, Tom Barrett, through Three Bridges Park. Take an hour from 6-7 PM to start of your evening in a fun and thought provoking way.
Do you love ice cream? Or whiskey? If so, you’re in for a treat! From 6-9 PM on Thursday, July 21 there will be an adult ice cream social held at the Great Lakes Distillery (Yeah, that’s right, a liquor distillery). Purple Door Ice Cream will be there supplying the chilled out treats. You’d be a fool to miss this one.
So, you loved your walk through Three Bridges Park the other week. As you were walking, you noticed this beautiful area. So beautiful that you imagined some beautiful act of theatre being performed there - some Shakespeare, perhaps? It just so happens that you’re in luck. On Friday July 22, the Summit Players will be appearing at Three Bridges. A workshop will be happening at 5:30 PM, and the abridged performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream & As You Like It will be starting at 7 PM sharp. Make sure to head to the park to witness this, and you’ll be able to tell your friends afterwards why “the course of true love never did run smooth”.
In the spirit of learning, take a morning educational stroll at Walk the Hank - in the Footsteps of a Civil War Soldier. This walking tour goes from 9-10:30 AM, and will take you along the Hank Aaron Trail to discover some beautifully historic buildings - dating back to the 1800’s. Melissa Cook, the leader of the tour, will also spend some time explaining the history of the significant Woods National Cemetery. A bike tour of the same area will be held on July 27th! These are bound to be lovely workouts for both your legs and your mind.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out Music in Mitchell Park every Thursday this month. Tonight the Eddie Butts Band will be performing a delicious blend of Jazz, Pop, and R&B. View the rest of the schedule here.
As always, be safe and enjoy summer as best you can! With these awesome events popping up all the time, it won’t be hard.
