Although it could be the start to a very funny joke – this is one I’m lacking a punchline for. I have so much to tell you about this week! Ranging anywhere from a beer and cheese pairing to a fiesta, you’re bound to find the event that tickles your fancy.
If you’re feeling a bit ba-a-a-ashful, head over to the Uber Tap Room tonight to check out a Three Sheeps beer and cheese pairing! Tickets are only $14, and you get the chance to win some awesome prizes by answering some very cheesy trivia questions. A win-win situation in my book.
Just in case you were wondering – there is not a shortage of cultural fests this weekend. The first taking place at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts at 2 PM on Saturday. The last installment of the Live at the Peck Pavilion Series, Taste of Islands, is a vibrant celebration of Jamaican history, food, music, and culture. UNITY the Band and Natty Nation will be taking the stage to provide musical entertainment for the day. So you can get your groove on during the shows, or even take a dance lesson that is being taught! There will be activities for kids, and a wide selection of delicious culinary vendors to choose from. Jah bless the organizers of this tantalizing get together!
¡Arriba! Salsa your way down to the Summerfest grounds this weekend for Mexican Fiesta! This three-day festival emphasizes fun, food, mariachi, and a fiesta for everyone while honoring culture, tradition, and family. With the stages all jam-packed full of awesome talent – ranging from flamenco dancers to modern Hispanic music (check out the full schedule here) – this is bound to be an explosively cultural event. You may want to hold onto your sombrero though, because with all of these sweet entertainment options to choose from, you could be blown away! Also, from 12-3 PM on Friday, bring in your non-perishables to help out the Hunger Task Force. It’s always great to be able to donate to a good cause, and enjoy a weekend of festivities and fun. Tickets are $16 for a general admission pass. Don’t miss out!
Squirrel! Well, not actually, but if you show up to Hart Park in Wauwatosa this weekend you may find a few furry friends who experience a reaction similar. B93.3 and Schlossman Subaru City are holding the first Bark n’ Brew! From 11-7 on Saturday and 12-5 PM on Sunday you will be able to experience great beer, food, and entertainment with your canine companions. Maggiano’s Bark Garden will be offering beer from Lagunitas, as well as Vander Mill Ciders, wine from Forgotten Fire Winery, and food from Maggiano’s Little Italy. Local food trucks will be on location as well! There will be performances from Andrew Han’s Disc Dogs, a police K9 demonstration, and even an 80’s costume competition for the pups. Educational booths will also be setup, providing quality information on grooming, training, care, and even puppy adoption! The best part about it, is that entry is free. A portion of proceeds gathered by the vendors will be donated to JR’s Pups n’ Stuff, a local non-profit providing foster homes and adoption services in the Milwaukee area. Don’t worry, you won’t be barking up the wrong tree if you attend. My tail is even wagging in excitement about this one!
Bar! Bites! Beer! Bash! Sounds like a good chant, doesn’t it? In this case it isn't, but instead it’s referring to a taste bud extravaganza. Show up to Storyhill BKC on Sunday at 6 PM for a night of beer and delicious eats. Here you will find four fully stocked food-pairing stations to match with beer samples from eight regional craft breweries (Surly, Lakefront, O’so, New Glarus, and Potosi to name a few). With no chance of going hungry and plenty of beer to quench your thirst, this occasion is more than worth the $50 entrance fee. Hesitation isn’t necessary. Because let's be honest, it all sounds delicious and I know you don’t want to miss out on the feast.
Lastly, Jazz in the Park will be holding it’s second to last event of the summer in Cathedral Square tonight at 5 PM! If you haven’t made it to one yet this summer, you’ve got two more chances. It’s a great atmosphere with quality music, and you can even break out those jazz hands you’ve been working on for so long.
That’s all I’ve got for you today, hope you enjoy the variety this week! I know I’m extra excited to check these out – It’s going to be a busy weekend. Let us know what you’re planning to go out and experience!
